My journey to photography began in advertising over 20 years ago where I helped brands like Pepsi and L’Oreal create desire by connecting creativity with human emotion. Working with some of the best creatives, photographers and directors in the industry, I learned how lighting, make-up, styling and direction can elevate an image into visual poetry. Portraiture called my name when I was getting yet another headshot done for an agency pitch. The photo was fine, but it didn’t capture the “me” who was leading a multi-million dollar business. I was in my 40s and wanted more than just a headshot or Instagram filtered selfie. I learned I wasn’t alone, that other women also wanted to be captured, celebrated and seen for all the nuances that make them more than just a pretty face.
